When I talk with bassfishing’s neophyte, one of the most asked question is:
" is there a versatile rod for all bassfishing’s techniques?"
The answer is No!
After this question, I usually ask them: "Is there a lure that you can catch Bass 365 days on the year?"
The answer is YES, THAT IS JIG.
The jig is nothing more than a jighead with a skirt and the guard.
When you fish with jig is mandatory to use soft bait like trailer.
The jig tends to imitate a craw or a creature that moves on the bottom or during the ‘swimming jig' technique, it imitates forage.
The key to catch with jig is the retrive:
sometimes the bass eats jig when it is stationary on the bottom, in pre spawn very quick is a good retrive... Other days the winning is the swimming jig technique, while the shaking can be decisive on apathetic fishes ... Now you understand why it is the bait that makes you stand out in fishing anytime and anywhere?
On the market there are thousands of jig, of various colors, sizes, shapes and weight.
I share the jig in 5 categories:
1. Pitching jig
2. Flipping jig
3. Football jig
4. Swimming jig
5. Spin jig
PITCHING JIG
The jig of pitching technique is a very common jig, that It needs no special characteristic.
So with no special characteristic, even a flipping a jig it can be used for pitching.
I love all the Molix's jig, because for each situation Molix has designed a dedicated jig.
To pitch I use Molix Kento Jig, it's a great jig with a head designed to create a good compromise between power and effect stand up.
This jig head has been perfectly shaped and balanced for an easy penetration and perfect swimming. The number of fibers of the weed guard is based on the jig weight and combines a perfect weedless effect for solid hook sets.
I Use this model when I fished the bank without big cover or with big trees.
This is also my favorite jig for skipping.

FLIPPING JIG
Unlike the pitching jig, for flipping jig you need a dedicated bait.
It must have two essential skills, the head must design for to have strong penetration in the cover and the must have a very strong hook..
For this technique use the Molix Tenax Jig, which is bait features a beautiful guard and especially with a head designed to perfectly enter into the cover.
The head, an exclusive bullet-shaped design, and the specific bend of the hook in line with the eye, facilitate a greater penetration even in the most intricate fishing conditions. The high efficiency of the weed guard is guaranteed by the fibers adjusted to the weight of the jig in order to reduce the risk of snagging but, at the same time, give positive confidence on the hook up.
The flipping jig Must be very strong, because when you set the hook, the fish must be pulled out from the cover as soon as possible.
I remember you, that we should not ever afraid to throw a jig in a cover too intricate, because if you use the right line (even braid) and the right rod, you can extirpated the fish everywhere
FOOTBALL JIG
The name of this Jig derives from the head, which is shaped like a footballs ball.
This form has been designed to give the best on the rocks and it’s offers a fantastic stand up presentation.
Given the compliance of the head is very suitable for depth fishing, during the summer.
SWIMMING JIG
Unlike Italy, this technique has long been used in the USA, especially fishing around floating docks or to search suspended bass.
If before they used the classic jig from pitching or flipping, perhaps with the foresight to remove the guard, now several companies have produced special jig.
The swimming Jig Molix is a classic example.
It is designed to give a more natural swimming action.
The hook is attack to the jighead by a split ring, so the angler can choose the right size of the hook for the trailer.
I would note that this jig is free of Guard.

These jigs are the smallest and lightest of all, in fact they are called spin because they are easier to throw by spinning rods.
These lures are used when we want to make a presentation finesse and they give us the best results on fish apathetic during the summer or the winter.
Several fishermen use them a lot for sight fishing or when the bass is hunting on dragonflies (with small trailer straight).
TRAILER
The trailer as mentioned before, is the complementary part of the jig.
There are thousands of trailers suitable jig, from classic craw through double tail a continuing with a shad and finishing with a grub!
Every situation has its own jig and trailer, I use early in the season the Molix caleo craw that in the cold water they gave me very big satisfaction.
It is definitely my favorite trailer!
For swimming jig I use Molix RA SHAD or double tail and sometimes when I flip the jig to give it more penetrating, I use trailer straight like molix sligozzo or Senko.
With regard to football jig trailer prefer the strong vibrations like zoom speedcraw, while the spin jig will choose 'very small baits like 3 inches craw or small shad / straight worm.

RODS AND LINE
The rods have heavy action with range from one oz until 3oz and length from 6'2foot (perfect for bellyboat,) until 7’6 flipping stick.
I use fluorocarbon line (16lbs/ 20lbs) or 50lbs braid to flip in the heavy cover.
Obviously talking about a spin jig, we use spinning rods very low as not more than 1 / 2oz and with 8lbs line.
For spinning, I use small braided with the final fluorocarbon.
This solution in awesome, it has only advantages, no twist on the reel (which often happened with fluorocarbon, expecially during drop shot), launches much more distant and not least, save a lot of money of fluorocarbon.
After this article will you wonder again why the jig the bait is good for all over the year?
